Road occupies central position in transportation matrix of India as it carries 85 percent of passenger traffic and 65 per cent of freight traffic .At present, India has a total road network of around 4.7million km of which national highway is 80,000 km . There is a widening gap as the road traffic is growing at the rate of 13 percent; while the length of road network is growing by only 4 percent. The major drivers to the sector would be growth in passenger cars and LCV which is estimated to grow at CAGR of 15 percent and 21 percent till 2015 respectively. Additionally growth of manufacturing sector, implementation of mega projects like dedicated freight corridors, development of industrial parks etc would lead to further increase in movement of goods by road
