Dr. G C Datta Roy
Dr Datta Roy graduated in electrical engineering with honours from Jadavpur University in 1965. He obtained PhD from BITS, Pilani for his thesis on heat exchanger networking for minimum energy design in process industries in 1995. He had attended “The Executive Programme” at Darden Business School, University of Virginia, USA in 1990.After spending over 40 years in energy intensive industries such as power, chemicals, fertilisers, edible oil and sugar, he started the energy consulting business, DSCL Energy Services Co as its CEO and member of the DSCL group in 1999. The Energy service company has since been acquired by Veolia group of France and currently named ‘Development Environergy Services Limited’ in short DESL. The company has executed over 500 energy efficiency and renewable energy projects globally saving over 3 MnT/year of GHG emission.As a member of the CII Energy Committee, he made important contribution in drafting of Energy Conservation Bill leading to EC Act and India’s position on Kyoto Protocol.He has been awarded as the ‘Energy Professional Developer of the year’ by India chapter of AEEE, USA in 2010 and as the ‘Sustainability leader of the year’ by Parivartan Sustainability Outlook in 2012 for his contribution in promoting energy efficiency business in the country.
