Dr. S.C. Sharma
Dr. Sharma is one of the few energy sector professionals in India who have worked with Government of India, PSUs (ONGC) and building Petronet LNG Limited since its conceptualization. His 36 years’ career is largely devoted to the growth and development of energy sector in India. He holds doctorate from IIT Bombay. Dr. Sharma has worked extensively in Government of India on formulation of national energy policies including market price for energy & oil and gas sectors. Dr. Sharma has worked on number of issues related to Indian Railways on energy efficiency, system planning and improving cash-flows and funding of Railway projects. Developing Petronet LNG Ltd. from conceptualization, land acquisition, contract development to commissioning and commercialization has been one of the key achievements for Dr. Sharma. Petronet LNG currently supplies 40% of natural gas in the country. During last 10 years Dr. Sharma has been deeply associated with developing national energy policies including Oil & gas sector exploration & production, refining & marketing, renewable energy policies, solar mission & creation of national clean energy funds (NCEF). Dr. Sharma estimated India’s position on carbon emission sustainability for the country presented at COP-15 in Copenhagen in Dec.2009. Dr. Sharma had been a member of number of global energy institutions like G-20 Clean Energy Ministerial, UN Energy Sustainability group and bilateral energy cooperation’s with OECD countries including USA, Canada, Australia and European Union.
