Energy deficit is a perennial problem that our country is facing. There are two approaches to mitigate the energy deficit, first by increasing the supply and secondly by containing the wasteful utilization of energy. Energy conservation Act was introduced in 2001 to lay the road map for efficient utilization of energy by means of measures such as demand side management, Standards & Labeling programme, energy efficiency building codes, identification & specification of consumption norms for designated consumers, to name a few.
India's energy intensity has improved in the recent years, which clearly indicates that we are on the right track. But, there is an urgent need to introspect, and to have a look at our progress and the possible solutions for a more sustained growth. On this Backdrop InfralineEnergy is organizing its 21st Monthly Round Table Conference on July 1, 2009 on the topic 'Energy Conservation Act: Progress & the Way Forward'. The discussion will focus on the progress achieved till date and the possible solutions for successful implementation of the Act.
