Power ministry's UJALA scheme for LEDs helps Chandigarh save electricity
The central government's Unnat
Jyoti Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) scheme has helped the UT power department
save 39,317 KWh of power every day.
Under the scheme, launched on
March 6 by local MP Kirron Kher, consumers can buy 4 LED bulbs (9watt), 2 LED
tubes (20watt) and 1 fan (50watt) at any of the 23 Sampark centres.
The price of LED bulb is Rs 70
against the market price of around Rs 150, while a tubelight costs Rs 230.
Market price of 20watt LED tubelight is around Rs 800. A fan is priced at Rs
1,150 against the market price of around Rs 1,800.
Till April 18, 1 lakh bulbs,
