Mumbai: 127 booked for rigging power meter
As many as 127 electricity theft cases were registered against those in MMR in a massive check conducted against rigging meters to a constant 0-30 unit consumption for several months, a spokesperson from MSEDCL announced on Wednesday. A spokesperson said this was part of an ongoing drive. “A total 3.3 lakh meters with less than 30-unit consumption were found across Bhandup division, which covers Bhandup-Mulund, Thane and Navi Mumbai. Of this, we inspected 36,452 meters and came across 127 cases of power thefts. We have booked the offenders under the Electricity Act and will be recovering huge penalties,” said a spokesperson. tnn
