GoI sanctions over Rs 619 crore for electrification in JK
Under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), the Centre has sanctioned Rs 619.67 crore for the electrification of 83 un-electrified villages in the state. Last year, the JK government identified 107 villages that had no access to the electricity.Reportedly, 25 villages were covered under DDUGJY by the end of 2016.The remaining 82 villages, comprising 13 lakh households, have been scheduled to be completed within two years.“Due to the limited resources under the scheme, some habitations have been left out which will now be covered under Prime Ministers Development Plan (PMDP),” official documents revealed.The government has engaged Project Management Agency (PMA) as the nodal agency for execution of the project, and it has been giv.....
