Even as Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh spar over the release of Narmada waters, the minutes of the crucial April 15, 2019 meeting called by the Narmada Control Authority (NCA) throws light on what had transpired between the four party states. The meeting was called to discuss, “the proposal of Gujarat to issue directive to NCA secretariat not to operate the River Bed power House (RBPH)".The minutes mention that the issue began on March 8 when the Maharashtra government had stated that they will like to generate power from RBPH at Sardar Sarovar out of their allocated share of 240 million cubic meter (MCM) of Narmada waters. It was also stated that the RBPH operation will facilitate aeration of Sardar Sarovar reservoir and supplement environment.....
