8 yrs after green nod, Koradi plant to get SO2 control units
After years of dilly-dallying, Mahagenco has started the process to install flue gas desulphurisers (FGDs) on three new 660MW units of Koradi power plant. The FGDs reduce sulphur dioxide (SO2) emissions, which can cause acid rain near the plant.A tender has been floated for the installation and bids will be opened on May 24. The pollution control equipments will be installed in a few months.The company has not taken the step voluntarily but on the strict directives of the ministry of environment, forests and climate change (MoEFCC).
