3.5 lakh households still without electricity in JK
Even as Jammu and Kashmir is bestowed with abundant resources for hydroelectricity generation, the State has over 3.50 lakh households still without electricity in the 21st century.A report by the Union Power Ministry reveals that 3,56,000 households that live nearly in 100 villages in J&K are yet to be electrified.“The total rural area of the state comprises of 17, 01,179 households of which, so far, 13, 45,179 have been electrified,” the report states. “Out of the 6,337 villages in the State, 98.3 percent i.e. 6,231 villages have been electrified while 1.7 percent which comprises of nearly 100 villages are still un-electrified. These villages will be covered in on fast track basis and projects to electrify them have been sanctioned under .....
