Cuddalore Thermal Power Plant (Phase I)

Project Status & Background of Cuddalore Thermal Power Plant (Phase I) IL&FS is developing a 3600 MW (2 x 600 MW in Phase I) imported coal based Thermal Power Project in Tamil Nadu. The Phase I of the project (1200 MW) would be utilizing sub-critical technology while Phase II (2400 MW) would utilize supercritical boiler technology and would source coal from Indonesia/Australia/SA etc. The project would consist of a dedicated port/jetty with enabling infrastructure for import of 15-25 million tones of coal per annum along with other plants and machinery. IL&FS has acquired a mine in Indonesia, which will cater to the coal requirement for this project. All major clearances including environment clearance from MoEF has been obtained for this project. The debt financial closure for Phase I has been achieved in December 2009 with a consortium of 19 banks.
