Competitive Bidding (Case-I & Case-II) in India – Current Scenario & Future Outlook

Competition is a relatively a new concept in power sector in India. While the Competitive Bidding regime in the Indian power sector has helped in bringing in down the tariffs and bringing in efficiencies and investments in the power sector, various constraints of late have led to decline in Case-I & Case-II Bids.

The recent trend of declining long term Power Purchase Agreements and increase in the share of short term power market shows the emerging future outlook of the sector. By FY’25, as seen in developed electricity markets, almost all the power would be procured through an exchange kind of platform, not necessarily be short-term in nature.

It is in this perspective, InfralineEnergy is coming out with a research study on "Competitive (Case-I & Case-II) in India – Current Scenario & Future Outlook". The study contains analysis of Case-I & Case-II Bids with developer-wise tariff details, year-wise tariff movement, fuel-wise capacity tie-ups and state-wise procurement position.
