Tamil Nadu electricity regulator says wind power should be backed down only for grid safety
The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission has today ordered that the state electricity utility should observe in letter and spirit the "Must-Run" status accorded to wind energy generators by central regulatory authorities and state provisions. Disposing a petition, the commission said procedures should be followed before snapping off wind energy and the decision should be backed by data. The case exists as forcible unplugging of turbines has cost wind generators crores of losses over the last three years. The petitioners of the case comprise wind power generators and a organisation of Tamil Nadu yarn spinning mills. Petitioners have moved the Madras High Court thrice so far, seeking directions to the TNERC to speed up hearing and jud.....
