Power tariff in Maharashtra cut by 14percent to woo industries
In a move that could give a major boost toMaharashtra government's 'Make in Maharashtra' initiative, power tariff for industries in the state has been reduced by 14%. At the same time, the railways will also benefit from a 10% dip in tariff it will encourage expansion and electrification of rail routes. For the first time, MERC has also created a separate category for metro and monorail tariff. As for the overall tariff, MERC has approved a tariff cut of 2.44% against the Mahavitran/MSEDCL proposal for a 7.94% hike for 2015-16.
