Summary
A major hurdle in completion of the Northern Peripheral Expressway, also known as Dwarka Expressway, between Gurgaon and Dwarka in Delhi, has been removed. The High Court of Punjab and Haryana has ordered the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) that the families whose properties have been affected by the project be adequately compensated. The compensation shall include the cost of constructing new dwelling units by these families at their chosen sites. With this decision, the construction of the 18-km-long expressway may get completed soon, sources said. In other words, once the expressway becomes a reality, the travel time between Gurgaon and Delhi will decrease considerably.
